I prefer a>b>c style link trades, which are hard link trades that are not a straight swap. I'm leaning very much to the opinion that for SEO purposes the big G prefers 'natural' trades rather than page for page trades, and this is the only trade I am willing to do. I give you a link on a very text rich page, in return for a link from a different page than the one I link to.
